The Scheme is now available to 40,000 households in the state, with all South Australian’s who have households on the grid given the opportunity to access a share of $100 million in State Government subsidies. An additional $100 million has also been provided by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.
The subsidy is calculated on the kilowatt hour capacity of the battery you choose to purchase. Finance is also available through peer-to-peer RateSetter to help households pay for the balance of the subsidised battery and new or additional solar panels, if required.
In addition, to assist low-income households who wish to access the Scheme, Energy Concession Holders are eligible for a higher subsidy.
To claim the subsidy, an approved battery system needs to be installed by a System Provider who is qualified under the Scheme. Solar Power Direct is a Qualified System provider, with products listed on the SA Home Battery Scheme site.
Stage 4 Home Battery Scheme subsidy levels
|Energy concession holder||$250 per kWh|
|All other households||$150 per kWh|
|Max. subsidy per battery installation||$2,000|
A dedicated website is available to assist South Australian homeowners with determining their suitability for a home battery system, choose between approved products and system providers, access the subsidy and apply for finance, if required.
To supply and install eligible home battery systems under the Scheme, industry providers will be required to first qualify as a System Provider.
In assessing applications, priority will be given to System Providers that commit to installing approved battery systems that are manufactured or assembled in South Australia.
